Bluefin Premier Intermediate League
Sport and Leisure Swifts 1 v Lisburn Distillery 2
Distillery stay top of the table after beating Sport and Leisure Swifts in a game that although at one stage seemed heading for a comfortable victory eventually went right to the wire.
Distillery looked the better side for most of the first half with their first chance coming in the 16th minute as Hislop’s curling shot from the edge of the box was tipped on to the post by the Swifts keeper.
McCaw then came close to breaking the deadlock just before the half came to a close with a volley which was driven along the ground, just whistling past the left post leaving the keeper stranded.
However, we didn’t have to wait long in to the second have until we received our first goal of the game which came from Sport & Leisure defender Liam Garland who was chased down well by Ferguson who forced Garland to chip a back pass to the keeper which ended up bouncing over him and in to the top left corner of the net to make it one nil to Distillery.
We didn’t have to wait long for our second chipped goal of the game this time from Paul Young who seen the keeper come out to close him down and was able to put the ball over him in to the bottom corner of the net.
A diving headed goal from Largey put the Swifts only one goal down in the 85th minute as they continued to attack the Distillery defence, however, the Whites fought well and were able to see the game out and stay on the top of the league.
