Match report – Lisburn Distillery 2 v Moyola Park 0 03/04/2018
Premier Intermediate League
Lisburn Distillery 2 vs Moyola Park 0
Distillery looked dangerous from the start of the game and indeed looked likely to score first as Withers beat his man on the left wing and drove a cross along the ground towards the well placed Nick Beta but the normally deadly Distillery striker air kicked and missed the ball however it fell kindly to Matthew Ferguson but he in turn blasted it well over the net from inside the box.
After this Moyola created their first opening when, following some neat interaction, Jason Paul found himself in the clear only to draw a superb block out of the home ‘keeper Pat Saunders.
The Whites responded well, Ferguson headed wide from a corner then the same player was unlucky not to score as Moyola’s ‘keeper Marcin Farniok tipped his deflected effort from ten yards out wide of the post.
Moyola fought back and Oran McAuley had a gilt edge chance to give them the lead but once again Saunders was equal to it producing a superb one handed save on the line which he somehow managed to turn over the cross bar, superb goal keeping from the big man.
No goals then at half time but the deadlock was soon broken in the second half as on 54 minutes the tireless McMurtry intercepted a Moyola clearance, drove forward then delivered a pin point cross into the penalty area which was duly met by Ferguson on the half volley his effort guiding the ball into the corner of the net.
Goal number two for Distillery arrived on 70 minutes, this time a lot less spectacular when an Aaron Harris corner was met by the head of the advancing Adam Wright who powered the ball into the net from short range, his first goal for the club.
After this the Whites were content to see out the game without major incident, the three points were secured and more importantly the seasons target of a top six finish in the Premier Intermediate league being guaranteed with three games still to play of the regular league campaign.
