Moyola Park 0 v Lisburn Distillery 1
Lisburn Distillery went into this game determined to build on their win from the previous Saturday against Lurgan Celtic and they soon gained the upper hand in this one when in the fourth minute James Wright played in Paul Young down the wing, Young in turn delivered a first time cross in to the box along the ground, towards O’Hanlon who tried to reach it on the slide but didn’t quite get there in time.
The home side fought back & almost capitalised on this miss in the 8th minute as Daniel Mcllhatton was unchallenged in the box as he rose for a header but fortunately for the Whites his effort went well wide.
Mcllhatton then went close again with his head a few minutes later as a corner in the 13th minute was won in the air by Steven McQuillan, who headed the ball back in to the box towards Mcllhatton who saw his header deflected and the chance went astray.
Undeterred by this short spell of home Distillery fought back went straight back up the other end where Michael O’ Hanlon intercepted the ball on the half way line and threaded a perfect through ball to the Whites young starting debutant Matthew Swann who took it in his stride and buried it, in to the bottom left corner, with his left foot past the home keeper Marcin Farniok , who, despite getting a hand to the ball, was unable to keep it from bulging the back of the net.
Farniok, was then called in to action once more, before the half came to a close, this time denying Alan McMurtry, who had received the ball in the box after bringing down O’Hanlon’s header before proceeding to fake a shot to make space away from the defender and then eventually hitting a shot towards the near post which was saved well by the keeper who got down quick.
The ever busy O’Hanlon was involved in the action once again in the second half, playing the ball out to Young who was free on the left and he chipped it in to the path of Ferguson who was well placed but his half volley blazed over the bar.
The last chance of the game for the Whites came from Harris’ free kick on the edge of the left side of the box, which hit the wall and deflected to O’Hanlon on the edge of the penalty, who volleyed towards the net but sliced the shot in to the keeper’s hands.
Regrettably as the game draw to a close tempers started to fray and indeed Moyola were destined to end the game with only ten men as a reckless challenge on Whites ‘keeper Jonah Nicholl by Daniel McElhatton saw the referee given no option but issue a red card deep into injury time
