Limavady United 1 vs Lisburn Distillery 1
Distillery looked the liveliest of the two teams early on in this one as a ball was played over the top of the Limavady defence in the 6th minute for Mikey Withers to run on to. The defender tracking his run slipped over giving Withers time to take the ball down with his chest, however, he was closed down well by the keeper who slid in to disposes him.
However, it was Limavady who broke the deadlock first, going one nil up in the 8th minute as Gary McFadden beat Barry Moore at the right side of the box and before slotting the ball past Distillery keeper Jonah Nicholl.
Limavady continued to create chances as Ryan Doherty received the ball in the 25th minute in the box but, couldn’t get the space to release his shot and when he finally did he dragged it wide.
Distillery however were now in the ascendency and fought back a few minutes later as a shot from James Wright, from the edge of the box, just dipped over the bar.
Wright was involved in everything picking out substitute Paul Young inside the six-yard box but his shot was straight at the keeper who denied the equaliser.
Distillery continued to apply the pressure, having a promising start to the second half as Wright whipped a ball in towards the back post were three Distillery players were running, but all were unable to get on the end of it and the ball whisked past the foot of new signing, Jack Clarke and went out of play.
Debutant Jack Clarke then had another clear cut chance for Distillery a minute later as he received the ball in the box with his resulting shot smashing off the bar before going out for safety.
The two new signings linked up for the first time in the game as Jack Clarke whipped a cross in towards Sean Green who headed straight at the keeper. Clarke was then involved again in the 52nd minute as his volley from about ten yards out was saved by the diving keeper only as far as Green who volleyed well wide.
Shortly after this though the Whites hopes seemed over as recent signing Sean Green received a red card on his debut following a mistimed tackle. Going down to ten men though didn’t seem to impact on a buoyant Distillery and they continued to dominate the proceedings but without reward, well that was until the game went into injury time.
The Whites finally got their goal in the 91st minute as Timmy Clarke whipped a ball in at the front post were Chris Getty ran on to it and headed past the keeper to give Distillery a share of the spoils
