The thoughts of Mac – Annagh United 1 Lisburn Distillery 2
Quite simply, performance of the season so far by the Whites and whilst there was a bit of nervousness in the last few minutes this game showed what the team is capable of producing – the next step is trying to produce it for the remainder of the season and seeing where it takes us.
I spoke with Colin McIlwaine afterwards at the venue where we played our last game in the Premier League back in April 2013, his broad smile summed up the evening perfectly.
“All I am going to talk about is what we have just put in there” he said. “We keep saying about what could be and what could have been but tonight’s performance from start to finish was high energy from all the boys. We asked them for a big response from Saturday (the Armagh City game) and what they gave us all over the park was excellent.
The only regret I have is that we made it hard for ourselves at times; we could have made better decisions in and around the box and taken more of our chances – maybe the right pass or the right finish would have given us more daylight.
But there were some massive performances there from boys who have been out for a few matches – Timmy Clarke coming back in and Michael O’Hanlon too.
Overall, three massive points, it keeps us away from the dangers and nervousness of being at the bottom end of the table and as I said to the boys, for me personally, it was one of the best perofrmaces from the team since I have been here.
We now need to go out and back that up on Saturday.”
