Three New Signings Late in Window
It was a busy last 48 hours of the transfer window at New Grosvenor with a further three signings joining the squad before the midnight deadline.
First through the door was 21 year old defender Jonathan Angus (pictured below on left) who signed late on Sunday night. Jonathan was an Academy player at Ards previously before moving on to play senior football with Ballywalter Rec. He then signed for Bangor last summer and was in the squad for the County Antrim Shield tie against Premiership side Cliftonville earlier in the season.
Following soon behind was namesake Jonathan Edge, another defender who has joined us from Championship side Ballyclare Comrades.
Jonathan only recently turned 18 but made his first team debut for The Comrades earlier this season, coming on as a substitute in a 3-1 win against Institute, and has continued to feature in first team squads since then.
No doubt Jonathan (pictured below) will be looking forward to gaining more first team experience in a white shirt.
Finally, with less than three hours in the window remaining, the club was able to complete the signing of striker Brendan Bennett from neighbours Ballymacash Rangers.
27 year old Brendan had been with the Mid-Ulster Intermediate A leaders since the summer having joined them following spells with Knockbreda and Ards and also a period of time in the United States.
Like his fellow recent signings Brendan (pictured below) could make his debut in this Saturday’s Premier Intermediate League game at home to Dollingstown.
Thanks to everyone at the club who worked hard behind the scenes over the past 48 hours to get these signings over the line and thanks to the players former clubs for their assistance with these transfers.
To our three new players we offer a warm welcome to Distillery FC and we look forward to seeing them in action soon!
