Welcome to Lisburn Distillery Youth Academy
In barely seven seasons since its formation in 2006, Lisburn Distillery’s Youth Academy and Youth team has grown to boast over 130 players and 30 members of staff in its ranks.
The Academy has teams at every age group from Under 8’s up to Under 17’s to feed into the club’s Youth Team (Under 19s) who play in the Irish Youth League and Manager Tommy Kincaid’s first team squad. Under 8’s to Under 11’s play Mini-Soccer in the IFA’s Grassroots Programme whilst the Under 12s to Under 17s play in the Lisburn Junior Invitational League. Despite playing in different leagues or locations on any given Saturday, we are one club - we are Lisburn Distillery!
Several players in the clubs first team squad have come through the ranks at the academy and we are proud of our recent track record of producing ‘home grown’ players to play in the Northern Ireland Football League. Ahead of the 2013/14 season Ryan McBride, Ryan Irwin, Michael Fegan, and Mikey Withers all signed first team contracts with new manager Tommy Kincaid who is keen to progress and nurture the young talent at the club.
Our coaches work tirelessly organising and delivering sessions, on matchdays and behind the scenes to help develop our promising players. In addition to this, regular appearances in cup or shield finals as well as high placed league finishes have enchanced the academy’s growing reputation not just in the borough of Lisburn but right across Northern Ireland. Teams have delivered silverware on several occasions whilst individual players such as Reece Kane, Peter Freeland (Co.Down) and Jamie McGleenon (Co.Armagh) have been selected for the summer’s Milk Cup squads.
Ahead of the 2013/14 season all Academy players have been issued with free season tickets for Championship One league games at New Grosvenor in addition to the clubs new policy of free admission to Under 16’s. We hope to encourage new support through the turnstiles and continue to create and develop links in the local community
All this cannot be achieved without a dedicated and committed list of volunteer staff, sponsors and supporters who continue to enable these huge steps to be realised. The Academy’s mantra is that ‘The Futures Bright: The Futures White!’ Here’s to another great season for the Wee Whites!
Lisburn Distillery’s Head of Development is Tommy Kincaid, whilst the committee who contribute to the day to day administration and management of the academy are as follows:
Ged Irwin: Academy Chairman (pictured)
Andy Harwood - Academy Co-ordinator
David Irwin: Academy Secretary
Simon Wragg: Mini-Soccer Co-Ordinator
Terry Thompson: Finance Officer
