Distillery European Legends
Irish League Champions Distillery FC lined out in one of the club’s most famous games, against Benfica in the European Cup On 25th September 1963. Perhaps the ‘Whites’ finest hour (and a half) they held the Portugese giants to a 3-3 draw before making their way to The Stadium of Light only seven days later for the second leg. Despite defeat, they returned home heroes and the club returned to European football eight years later.
In 1971 as Irish Cup Winners, the Whites were drawn against Barcelona in the Cup Winners Cup and travelled to the Nou Camp. These European games are a huge part of our clubs proud history.
It is with some sadness that as time goes on, a number of people are no longer able to celebrate with us, however it is only fitting to mark the occasion and look back on some wonderful nights. The club will be inviting former players and friends to a special pre-match event on Saturday 13th October (vs Sport & Leisure) with further details posted soon to join with our Distillery European Legends.
