30/03/2019 Lisburn Distillery 2 vs Moyola Park 1 Bluefin Premier Intermediate League
Distillery led the first attack of the game as McCaw played Beta through down the centre, however, the defender did well, to put Beta off his shot, which he dragged wide.
Distillery had another chance in the 11th as Daire Rooney received the ball on the outer edge of the box, where he moved the ball on to his right and curled it towards the net but on this occasion his effort hit the top of the crossbar and went over.
Moyola then almost broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute as Tiarnan Rafferty delivered a free kick, which was meant to be a cross in to the box, but dipped right in on top of Jonah Nicholl, who had to alert to tip it over the bar.
Overall the first half saw little to separate the sides however Moyola did find the back of the net on 38 minutes as Rafferty delivered another free kick in to the box, this time it was headed in by Daniel McIlhatton however the effort was deemed as offside and the goal was disallowed to ensure the teams went in level at 0-0 at the break.
That half time score line didn’t last long as within a minute of the restart Moyola took the lead as McIlhatton was allowed time on the edge of the box, allowing him to hit a low driven shot past Whites ‘keeper Nicholl and in to the bottom left hand corner of the net.
Moyola came close to scoring again in the 59th minute as Kyle Beggs received the ball just inside Distillery’s half and drove down the right wing with it, putting it past Curran as he continued his run in to the Distillery box. He then played the ball to the edge of the box where Rafferty was waiting to strike but his goal bound effort was well saved by Nicholl who spread himself well to prevent the ball from reaching the back of the net.
This was a chance missed which came back to haunt Moyola, as four minutes later the Whites found an equaliser as Timmy Clarke’s corner was flicked on by Nick Beta and headed in by Daire Rooney at the back post
James Wright then tried to add to the score line in the 73rd minute with a free kick from distance but the effort whistled over the bar.
The Whites finally did find the back of the net again in the 77th minute as Daire Rooney received the ball just inside Moyola’s half, flicked it past his man and ran on to it, driving at pace down the line before crossing the ball in to the box along the ground towards Paul Young, who controlled it superbly with his back towards goal but did really well swiveling and and drilling the ball past the keeper.
Young then almost scored a second goal in the 86th minute as Aaron Harris’ free kick was headed out by a Moyola defender, to the edge of the box, where he volleyed the ball first time but on this occasion just wide of the goal.
