Match report – Irish Cup Round 4 – Lisburn Distillery 4 v Comber Rec 3 aet
Irish Cup Fourth Round
Lisburn Distillery 4 vs 3 Comber Rec
Lisburn Distillery came out of the traps quickly in this one and opened the score line in the 4th minute through Francis Dugan who reacted to a cross which fell to him on the edge of the six yard box, and he duly tapped it in.
However, Comber responded two minutes later as Stuart Hanna ran down the right wing and delivered a driven cross along the ground towards Jordan Dougherty who also tapped in from inside the six-yard box.
The game had started at a crazy pace and got even more frenetic when Dugan was involved again in Distillery’s second goal, as he beat his man on the left wing and played his cross to Harris who connected first time connected with the ball, placing it in to the bottom right hand corner of the net.
It had only been 7 minutes and Dugan already had a goal and an assist and it only took him two more minutes before he was able to find the net again as Paul Young beat his man on the left wing and pulled the ball back towards the penalty spot, where Dugan was occupying and he picked his spot in the net.
The half almost seen another goal in the 33rd minute as the White’s showed great play bringing the ball forward in confidence, out from the back, before it was dispersed out to the wing, to Young who beat his man and crossed the ball to the unmarked Swann but the up and coming youngster was unable to direct his header in to the net.
Comber started the second half looking more likely to score, coming close in the 52nd minute as Simon Hanna, struck a shot from about 30 yards which was stopped by Jonah Nicholl, who was forced to dive, and just about got a fingertip on it to push it out for a corner.
However, Nicholl could only do so much to prevent the inevitable, as Comber got two more goals in quick succession, to bring the Whites into extra time; the first of which came in the 60th minute as Aaron Milligan played the ball through to Stuart Hanna, who placed the ball in to the bottom left hand corner and their third and final goal of the 90, coming in the 73rd minute as their striker won a header from a free kick into the box, which was parried by Nicholl but only as far as their other striker who tapped the ball past Nicholl, to bring the Whites to extra time.
However, after a few scares in the additional period, Distillery came in to the game more and eventually got the final goal of the game through Ferguson, who sent the Whites in to the next round of the cup.
