“Whites” add three
With the January transfer window now well and truly open, the “Whites” have been busy on the transfer front over the last few days.
First of all we are delighted to welcome the following players to the club.
Jack Berry – Teenage striker Jack Berry has agreed to join the club on loan from Cliftonville Football Club for the rest of the season. Although still young in years, Jack has already been building a strong reputation as a pacy, strong attacking player and a player who is rated very highly by manager Barry Johnston who stated “I see Jack as one of the most promising young players in the Irish league and I’m genuinely delighted to have him on board. His direct approach and explosive pace will no doubt cause a lot of problems for other defences”
Dylan Whiteway – 25 year old central defender Dylan has joined the club from Championship side Newington Football Club having previously been with Ards and Crewe United amongst others. Manager Johnston commented on the signing “Dylan is a player I have been trying to sign for some time and once again am delighted to have finally got his signature. With big Adam McCart still out we needed cover in that area and I have no doubt Dylan will be a tremendous asset to the club.
Finally (for now) we welcome back midfielder Pearse McVarnock to the club. Pearse will no stranger to our supporters having played for the club last season and his return will provide the team with further options and experience in the centre of the park.
Of course with incomings there are also outgoings and we therefore say farewell to the following players:
Mick Gallagher – signed last January striker Mick leaves the club after having scored 12 goals in his 31 appearances for the club. Manager Johnston commented on his departure “We’re sad to see Mick go but due to work commitments he is unable to train the required two nights per week which would have severely limited his game time, so we felt it only fair to let him return to junior football.
Craig Robinson – Finally another player who has also left the club to return to his former club in junior football is goalkeeper Craig Robinson who has returned to Tandragee Rovers. We thank Craig for his efforts in a Distillery shirt and clearly wish him well for the future.
