Dunville’s POTM – January 2026
The first monthly award of the new year has gone to ……. a new winner!
And the photograph of the smiling recipient says it all – so congratulations and a huge WELL DONE to Callum McComb.
Although he had made a few appearances for the first team last season, Callum was brought into the first team squad from David Hawthorne’s Under 21 side at the start of December and he made an immediate, and continuing, impression.
He has come all the way up through the ranks of the club’s youth academy over a long number of years and he was also a front-runner for the coveted Dunville’s Irish Whiskey Player of the Month award back in December.
January was a great month for him on the pitch again, now fully integrated into the midfield, he also scored his first senior goal against Coagh United and the worthy winner was presented with his award – a bottle of Dunville’s 1808 Blended Irish Whiskey, a modern blend of malt, grain and pot still whiskeys – by Distillery manager Lee Forsythe (left) in the club’s memorabilia museum after our fine win against Ballyclare Comrades on Saturday (when Callum scored again).
So, well done again to Callum, and after Saturday’s superb all-round team performance, the Dunville’s Irish Whiskey Player of the Month award for February is going to be very competitive indeed.
The popular award wouldn’t of course happen without the support and generosity of our good friends at The Echlinville Distillery. So once again we thank owner Shane Braniff and his team for their ongoing commitment to the club founded of course by employees in Dunville’s distillery just over 145 years ago.
Echlinville Tour and Tipple dates are now on-line for February through to April and you can find out more about these and the entire award-winning product range at Echlinville here
