John Heron & John Milliken

The club is saddened to learn of the death of two former Distillery players.

John Milliken played at full-back for Distillery during his time at Grosvenor Park at the end of the 1950s and start of the 1960s.

John Heron (pictured) captained the side and played at centre-half in the 1996-1997 season. He was brought in from Ballymena United by manager Paul Kirk to add experience and guide a team with a number of young players. And although his stay with the club was a short one, he gained respect from our supporters for his leadership and commitment. He was a popular player as he had indeed been at Ballymena Showgrounds, where he made 300 appearances and won an Irish Cup winners’ medal with Ballymena United.
