“Spirit of The Eighties” – Distillery v Ballyclare Comrades
The “Spirit of the Eighties” – our official matchday programme, returns with issue number six for the visit of Ballyclare Comrades.
“As we will be wearing a special commemorative kit this Saturday, this edition has a two-page spread on that memorable season” writes programme editor David Hunter. “We cover the historic season with details of the important games, accompanied by a photograph or two along the way.
In addition to our regular news, snippets, matchday squads etc, and for those who weren’t there, you can read Distillery’s manager Lee Forsythe’s verdict on last week’s trip to Portstewart.
We have a two page spread in our “RETRO” series, (a look back at a selected Distillery game against the day’s opposition), and this is one of the oldest one’s we will probably produce.
It was at a time when first-team coach Seamus Heath was wearing shorts, we are not going that far back of course, we are only covering a game in 1993 between the sides. Seamus, of course, playing for The Whites under Billy Hamilton against The Comrades.
The programme, our usual packed edition of eight pages, no advertisements, full-colour in our A5 format will be on sale just inside the turnstiles this Saturday.
As things stand, programme number 7 is planned for the league visit of Rathfriland Rangers on 21st February.”
