“Spirit of the Eighties” – Portstewart game
Programme number 9 of our match day programme, “Spirit of the Eighties”, the final edition of the series will be on sale this Saturday.
Programme editor David Hunter writes; “Thank you to everyone who has supported the club by buying programmes this season. We have had a great season in terms of our objectives of being able to help the club financially and keeping the tradition of a match day programme alive.
My thanks to Dawson, Cameron and Neil for their work, and to our manager Barry Johnston who was always readily available for interviews at any time.
We are finishing on a high – pushing the page count out to 12 pages (A5) at no extra-charge to our readers and we have got a wide-range of material. Barry will be reflecting on last week’s game, and the season, in his regular column.
We have a two-page spread on matches against our visitors, Portstewart. Our “On this day” feature runs to two and a half pages, and there is a special two page spread dedicated to our great friends, match sponsors and visitors this weekend, “The Scandis” (the Lisburn Distillery Scandinavian Supporters Club).
Fitted in across the programme are more than twenty exclusive photographs that include a young 21-year-old Fra Brennan playing for Dungannon against Distillery in 2013, and in that same game an even younger Ryan Irwin making his Distillery debut! Plus some shots from the “The Phil Matthews” show at Ballymena way back in 2002.
We have match pictures against Portstewart, some of the wording is in Swedish and closer to home we have an overview of our visitors and a short update on our reserve team who are in a run of games in a very short time period.
And we welcome three players into the Distillery 50 club (for 50 or more appearances).
Apart from that, it’s all colour, with a half-page advert reflecting our historical connection to the iconic, award-winning Dunville’s whiskey brand, and as our friends from Sweden would say “det är väldigt färgglad” – “it’s very colourful” – and a nice collectors’ edition to finish off on.
As usual Neil will be selling the programme just inside the ground after you come through the turnstiles. Plus, as the photos show we have a wide range of readers!”
